Knowledge vs. Control

This post deals with knowledge vs. control. It does so in the context of Stanley Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove.” I found it a fascinating interpretation and rather descriptive of the conundrum that we are in.

My low opinion of elected officials and their true goals (not consistent with the citizens they are supposed to represent) make this interpretation especially scary. Even if government officials were competent and working toward the betterment of mankind (unfortunately neither is true), the complexity of the modern world has grown beyond men and their ability to design and manage complex control systems.

Correcting the problems of  government is an enormous task. Even if successful (and there is no indication that government would allow these corrections), it does not protect against such complexities as dealt with in this movie.
