The bottom line of the SCOTUS decision on ObamaCare is that The Constitution has been effectively repealed. It is no longer controlling.
The uniqueness of the US was taken away. The Rule of Law is gone. It has been replaced by The Rule of Men. Congress and the political class can, for all practical purposes, do whatever they deem proper or expedient.
Two centuries of law were officially voided today as was the basis for America’s greatness.
These are thoughts provided by the American Thinker:
The Power to Tax is the Power to Destroy
June 28, 2012
There are now no restraints on how Congress may hook up vacuum hoses to our wallets, our assets, our future earnings, and prospects for life and liberty. More
The outcome and ramifications for the US were summarized by Joel B. Pollack:
The Supreme Court has made a wrong decision, for the wrong reasons, in defense of a wrong policy. If citizens do not rush to the polls to undo what has happened–and after today, I am not certain that they will–our health care system will be ruined, our Treasury bankrupted, and our Republic endangered.
The next election will be important, but no more important than all coming elections. Without the Constitution we are subject to dictatorship. Unless this legal precedent is reversed, the US will be electing potential dictators. Forever after we must only elect benevolent dictators. One mistake will be fatal! Sadly, election mistakes are made regularly and will be made again. From now on, these mistakes could be fatal.
Regardless of who is elected in 2012 and by whatever margin, this SCOTUS decision is a signal to get the hell out of your country of birth. Without Constitutional protection (which has been effectively repealed) people are virtually defenseless against the all-powerful State. We are on a sure path to Serfdom.
Leave now if you want to have a chance at a productive and free future.
I don’t know where to tell you to go, but I think your chances will be better elsewhere than here. Sadly, the greatest country in the world has become the greatest threat to freedom! All productive citizens are potential prey for the State. Your wealth, your freedom and your property are all under attack.

Monty, I completely share your conclusion. How can anyone argue? The gov’t can LITERALLY tax you (and they don’t even have to call it a tax, Benedict Roberts will fill in the missing gap) for having a heart rate over 75 bpm, or for not registering as a democrat. There is LITERALLY NOTHING THEY CAN’T DO !!!
Meanwhile, come the end of this year, Taxmaggedon comes into place which will absolutely and thoroughly DECIMATE this economy irreparably. Any business with capital, means and talent will leave this nation to NEVER RETURN! Why in the hell would you? I can watch my beloved Kentucky Wildcats on the internet which is available worldwide.
I started a business recently in CANADA and am looking at property south of the US to move to. Unfortunately, to really make it work out best for my family, I need to wait two years, but I TRULY fear we don’t have two years. Obamugabe is hiring an army of ambulance chasers to invalidate the vote and will of the people. He just deemed over a million foreigners could legally vote in this election. Anyone believe this next election isn’t rigged? Soros gets to count the votes in Spain !!
How long do we have to leave? Any suggestion?
At our founding, there was the concept that, given our example of individual Liberty, peace and prosperity other nations would strive to emulate our form of limited government. What has actually happened over the centuries is that we have become more like the failed States of the world and none has become like we hoped to be.
So to answer your question Syrin, there is no place on Earth where Liberty’s light still brightly shines; only degrees of tyranny-soft or otherwise. As the eminent author W. Cleon Skousen elaborated in his book, “The 5000 Year Leap”, the Republic founded on these shores was the culmination of Liberty-loving thought over millenia. We had the responsibility to uphold the virtues of our Republic and have failed. No alternative exists.
Now, imo what is apparently the minority of our citizens must decide whether to fight a generations-long battle to try to reclaim our God-given status or separating from the union in another desperate attempt to fan that flickering flame of Liberty back into glorious life.
Neither path offers a solution without strife and suffering but if there is a third choice, I do not see it.
Semper Fidelis. Semper Paratus. Sic Semper Tyrannis!
Your general assessment is accurate, but there are pockets, and I mean SMALL pockets where I can go. It’s a matter of timing.
I’ll NEVER stop fighting these tyrannical bastards. Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t want my family on the battle field when the bullets LITERALLY start flying.
If timing be the key, there are several with whom I converse who agree with me that Nov 6 or immediately thereafter will be the crucial date. It seems likely, given the depths of distrust and animosity that neither side will peacefully accept defeat.
May God help us to be ready.
Just maybe…
This is the result of the nation rejecting absolute moral standards;
the result of denying personal responsibility for ones life;
the result of thinking ourselves as ever evolving and improving while denying the Designer of life;
the result of glorifying diversity while demeaning common societal values;
the result of repeatedly electing those who promise us the greatest short-term personal gain;
the result of appointing political hacks to the highest courts in the land;
which brought us the gross distortion of justice and indifference to the Constitution we received today.
Just maybe, we got what we asked for.
Since SCOTUS has determined the US Constitution to be no longer binding……..and in consideration of the fact that the entire rationale for having SCOTUS is to determine “constitutionality” of legal issues….maybe SCOTUS just voted itself to be no longer relevant as well; sort of a “two birds with one stone” thingy!……how ’bout Dat!
I made this point no less than a dozen times today.
I liked the first quote from AT, I had read it there first. It is a sad day and I was stunned it was Roberts and not Kennedy. But when its all said and done are there truly very many we can trust in government? There are some, Thomas and Scalia, likely Alito on the court, a handful in the senate and maybe a couple of hand fulls in the house. Other than that they all seek to advance an ever growing central government, assuming more and more power and control over our lives, sometimes “for our own good” and always for theirs.
Monty, I read your despair, but really, where is there to go? Without America in the world, it is going to continue becoming a more dangerous and oppressive place.
The positive I get out of all of this is that the American people must get a full dose of liberalism in order for it to discard it. The economy is in shambles, now our first rate healthcare system has been subsumed (not that it was perfect, there is legitimate work to do to it), Obama owns it so let him and his ilk stew in their juices. This medicine will either kill or cure the nation.
Well said..thumbs up
There will be no flags out this July 4th on my property- my country is officially dead
Didn’t you get the memo from Justice Benedict, mien comrade? YOU MUST celebrate ze 4th of July or face a
penaltytax. Do you want Obamugabe to invoke the NDAA to lock you up indefinitely for not celebrating properly?
