From reader JJC comes this observation on public unions and employees:
The Right To Say No!
Like Wisconsin, you will see significant protest as the money really begins to dry up. That might take 2 years, it might take 10 years, but it will happen.
What we are now experiencing is a rather disturbing fissure within our society:
BIG GOV MODEST GOV
public unions tax payers
public employees private sector employees
politicians business owners
large corporations small and mid sized business
large banks community banks
dependent class those working to pay for these entitlements
I may have missed a few, but this is I believe, largely correct.
One last very important point.
I am not comfortable with the vilification of anyone working in the public sector. Working in the public side does not indicate a lack of industry, work ethic, or principles. That over generalized perspective is wrong and only causes more difficulty and greater damage to our society. That said, I am also getting very damned tired of those working on the public side- and most especially the leadership of those unions, media outlets, the social agitators, and politicians who supposedly represent all citizens, for regarding our sense out outrage, disenfranchisement, and financial exhaustion as signs of racism, hate, greed, and lack of civic virtue.
It’s like blaming the victim for the crime. We are just tired of paying, and paying and paying…for someone else. Taking action to stop the abuse is not hate, it is not abuse, but is a simple act of economic and national self preservation.
We have the right to say “no!” We have the right to say “enough!”.
JJC,
Thank you for your insightful juxtapositions.
Public sector unions and their co-conspirators are using the strategies and tactics of Saul Alinsky and the anarchist duo of Cloward and Piven, which is to wreck America. Reports about death threats to Wisconsin Republican Senators, vandal attacks on their homes, and public unionists bullying opposition groups with bullhorns are very similar to what the Nazis did to intimidate their opponents’ political meetings. These thugs will hang themselves in the court of public opinion and lose votes.
