A reasonable assessment by Niall Ferguson as presented by John Podhoretz:
Niall Ferguson, the very pessimis tic economic historian, wrote the other day that the best we can now hope for is that Obama leaves the country in the same kind of shape that Jimmy Carter left it in.
Well, Monty, as a young man Carter received my first presidential vote, then he taught me I wasn’t a democrat. I would imagine Obama is having the same affect on a number of people.
Puzzlement by journalists, politicians, and others about Obama’s failure to act as a president is understandable if one expects Obama to act as previous U.S. Presidents have acted to honor their oath of office. Here is the oath from Article II, Section 1. (last paragraph): Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:–”I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

By his actions, and inactions, Obama does not preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Why does Obama dishonor his oath?
Obama is a traitor, stooge, and mouthpiece for the radical left that wants totalitarian government in America and the world. Someday, we will know who, besides the usual suspects with billions, recognized years ago that Obama could be groomed as a one man sleeper cell. I suspect Obama decided to enjoy the pomp and perks of The Presidency instead of working hard on the job. He knows he is backed by a phalanx of plotters for totalitarianism comprised of wealthy Machiavellis, think tanks, media, senators, congressman, some state governors and legislators, academics, public and private labor union leaders, and dupes among the voters. Obama knows that all he must do is follow the orders of the leaders of the phalanx when the orders are delivered by frequent couriers to the White House. If one understands that the President’s Brain Is, not quite, Missing but under remote control by The Leader Of The Phalanx, then one understands why Obama has so much time for fun instead of work.
