For a discussion on the potential for inflation, I recommend John Butler’s “The Inflation Tipping Point.”
Mr. Butler reviews the debate between the deflationists and the inflationists and the difference between monetary inflation and price inflation. He is clearly in the inflation camp and provides a coherent argument for the case. He relates it to current events and points to places in the world where he believes the tipping point has already been reached.
He argues that “once the inflation tipping point is reached, the rush to the exit–to protect against rising prices in some way–is likely to be disorderly and dangerous for the economy, with obvious consequences for financial markets.”
I find his analysis to be consistent with my understanding of what is happening.
