Opinion from reader JJC on the tragic shootings:

“He was distinguished for ignorance; for he had only one idea, and that was wrong.” - Benjamin Disraeli

“It is essential tonight not to demand revenge but to demand justice, to insist not upon payback against those politicians and commentators who have so irresponsibly brought us to this time of domestic terrorism, but to work to change the minds of them and their supporters. Or if those minds tonight are too closed, or if those minds tonight are too unmoved, or if those minds tonight are too triumphant, to make sure by peaceful means that those politicians and commentators and supporters have no further place in our system of government.”
-  Keith Olberman commenting on the Rep. Giffords shooting

Never mind that the shooter has been described by class mate- Caitie Parker- as a “left wing pot head”.  He is also known to have burned the American flag and had reading material from Hitler and Marx.  Just to be clear:  this is not exactly the profile of a Tea Party person or a conservative for that matter. It fits another political perspective, but definitely not conservative.

Kindly recall, if you may, the media silence and self censorship for the Fort Hood shooting.  There were ridiculous attempts to seprate the shooter from his Islamist ideology.  In fact, there were even subtle efforts to “blame the victim”.  According to many in the media, the shooter was helplessly driven to this senseless act of mass murder by the bigotry and hated of his peers, the military, and our foreign policy.  As unconvincing as it was to most rational people, this explanation seemed soothing to the media, especially as the victims were all conservative and in the military.

The point to be seen above is rather simple:  a large majority of Americans clearly do not share the beliefs or behaviors of the political elite.  That their minds are “not going to be changed” was undeniably shown in the recent elections. Yet, in a rather indirect way, Mr. Olberman insinuates that if you do not agree with the party line, if your mind is not going to be changed, and you care enough to voice this disagreement forcefully and publically, you are somehow responsible for this affair, and naturally you should be silenced and suppressed.

The shame and hypocrisy of our the “owned” media knows no bounds!
