A 1981 movie entitled Rollover (I have not seen it) apparently was quite prophetic regarding an International Banking crisis.

Interspersed in the video segment below is Paul Kanjorski explaining in 2008 what was happening. Kanjorski is a tool of the political establishment, trying to justify why such enormous response was necessary by the government. The meme, of course, is that Big Brother protected you from whatever evil forces were attacking the financial system.

2008 was a pre-quake. The serious bank/currency crisis has not been avoided; it has been deferred. It is waiting to happen and likely will happen within the next couple of years. If (when?) it does, the video clip presents a view of how bad things might get. Sometimes visuals are better than words, especially when they are cast in the context of media reports.

Anyone who has seen “Rollover,” I would be interested in any comments you might offer, including whether it is worthwhile watching.

  1. Sir:
I saw the movie in the theater when it was released.
I must confess at the time I missed the nuances.
That admitted, in light of today’s global debacles, it would scare the beejabbers out of anyone reasonably conversant with finance.
While the scenarios and dialog might be somewhat ‘dated’, I would recommend it.

  2. I own 2 copies … it is quite good (interesting)…
Kristofferson is dry but movie is about OPEC countries secretly not buying US govt paper .,… results in crash … not unlike threat of Asian govts not buying our paper … nobody is buying our mortgage paper besides US FED and US funded banks …. possibly soon only Fed is buyer of US debt. Very scary!

  3. That’s an interesting clip. NY Times has a review: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C02E4DC103BF932A25751C1A967948260 The reviewer didn’t seem to like it much.
