Every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods. H.L. Mencken
The great gang war we call an election is over. The Crips have displaced the Bloods, at least in the House of Representatives. Euphoria reigns amongst the Republican gang, but it is apt to be short-lived.
The results of the election were significant in the sense that they were overwhelming. Yet pundits told us the same thing in 2008. Time magazine then questioned whether the Elephant would become extinct. Now two years later an even stronger rejection of the Democrats occurred.
Newly-elected Mario Rubio understands at least part of what happened:
We make a great mistake if we believe that tonight these results are somehow an embrace of the Republican Party.
In many cases, voters did not vote for a party or a person; they voted against a system just as they did two years ago. Pundit interpretations in terms of personalities, parties and strategies miss the point. A growing number of voters are disgusted with government, at least how it is now practiced and has been for the past several decades. Ron Fourier summarized recent poll results:
- More than 70 percent of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track.
- Almost as many believe the nation faces a “leadership crisis.”
- Three quarters of voters disapprove of Congress, a near record low.
- Nearly 6 out of every 10 voters are more willing to take a chance this year on a candidate with little political experience.
- More than a quarter of voters are willing to back a candidate whose views “seem extreme.”
- Surveys consistently show Americans hold the Republican Party in lower esteem than the Democratic Party, even as the GOP stormed to victories.
The hubris of the ruling elite make them very difficult to like. These arrogant people are partly at fault, but the problem is less with them than their power. Even likable people should not have power.
Force always attracts men of low morality. Albert Einstein
The change that people want will not originate in Washington, but it will come. No matter how oppressive a government, people eventually get what they want.
Eventually? Very open ended the word eventually. The human race is not cyclical. It is a work in progress or maybe a failure in progress. What people will eventually get is death. What your eventual equation lacks is understanding civility. Our leaders have turned their backs on civility. It’s my way or the highway attitude that has taken over all of the political parties. The only way I see “eventually” is if this attitude changes otherwise Marshall law will be necessary and our Government will become Authoritarian. An attitude change requires the ability to intellectualize not only your own thoughts but the comments of others. I question if either of those original human traits still has a place on the human stage or have we all joined the “me generation”.
What are they thinking when they feel the need to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. I suggest that, these same persons join the National Guard to be on the armed side when the government institutes Marshall Law and enjoy the tyranny and maybe get to shoot some humans all the while by subletting their conscience to the authoritarian leader. Lock and load brothers and remember that when your on my side your on the right side. Heil leader. “Force always attracts men of low morality”. Albert Einstein, so get on board boys you know who you are.
