I have mentioned Chris Martenson on this blog several times. His economic insights are excellent (he has the distinct advantage of not being an economist). He not only talks the talk but also walks the walk. About five years ago, he started preparing for the financial mess.

For those unfamiliar with Chris, I encourage you to visit his website and watch “The Crash Course.” While you are there, look around because there is plenty of good analysis.

He has put together a nine-part personal preparation guide that might be of interest to many readers. In part nine, he summarized:

… we’ve taken a journey through eight essential steps of personal preparation.  We’ve discussed how to build more security around the basics of life: water, food, energy, warmth and shelter.  We’ve presented ideas about how to keep ourselves connected, and healthy, even in emergencies.  We’ve also outlined basic strategies for financial preparation. Finally, we’ve considered the roles community and emotional preparedness play in building a resilient lifestyle.

I have not read the guide (yet!) so cannot comment on it other than to say that I know Dr. Martenson’s thoroughness and thoughtfulness. Based on that, I recommend it for anyone who is concerned about the future and what preparations should be considered.
