The following video is exceptionally done. While directed primarily at President Obama, it should be directed at government in general. Regardless of how the November elections and 2012 election turns out, the attitudes expressed below are required for all government at all times. Whether your team be Dem or GOP, this video applies to both! The spirit reflected below must be applied to all government at all times. To supplement the video, I included some quotes below.
- “History affords us many instances of the ruin of states, by the prosecution of measures ill suited to the temper and genius of their people. The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy.” Benjamin Franklin
“Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).” Ayn Rand- “When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President. Now I’m beginning to believe it.” Clarence Darrow
- “When the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.” Edith Hamilton
- “The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke
- “It has been a long fight to put the control of our economic system in the hands of the government.” Eleanor Roosevelt
- “When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.” Frederic Bastiat
- “It is indeed probable that more harm and misery have been caused by men determined to use coercion to stamp out a moral evil than by men intent on doing evil.” Friedrich Hayek
- “If we wish to preserve a free society, it is essential that we recognize that the desirability of a particular object is not sufficient justification for the use of coercion.” Friedrich Hayek
- “Though the people support the government; the government should not support the people.” Grover Cleveland
- “A good politician is quite as unthinkable as an honest burglar.” H. L. Mencken
