From Calculated Risk’s Duration of Unemployment came the following graph:

It is notable how high the longest unemployed category is. It dwarfs all similar and previous measurements. Calculated Risk points out two factors that may be responsible: 1) Lack of mobility due to inability to sell homes, and 2) Skill mismatch. A third category that undoubtedly has an effect, although one cannot ascertain its magnitude, is the extension of unemployment benefits.

Regardless of what factors play what roles, this economy is not good and showing few signs of improving.
